Hello and Happy Fall!  I hope your family enjoys the transition into cooler weather and the onset of the lovely fall foliage.

Growth Mindset

We are continuing our focus on the importance of having a Growth Mindset and understanding that everyone’s intelligence can be developed.  Effort and grit are the keys to success.  We must exercise our brain like a muscle to continue learning new things.  No worries, mistakes are part of learning!  Around the building, you will see Growth Mindset posters and work samples.  Stewart staff is committed to developing a conceptual understanding of learning and the human brain to help build a culture of success for all kids.

Benefits of Reading to your Child

Whether you’re reading a classic or fairy tales before bed, reading aloud to your child can significantly benefit your child’s life. Some benefits include:

  • Supported cognitive development-vocabulary growth
  • Improved language skills-language acquisition, communication skills, social skills
  • Preparation for academic success-develop stronger language skills
  • Developing a special bond with your child-gives you something shared to discuss
  • Increased concentration and discipline-a stronger self-discipline, longer attention span and better memory retention
  • Improved imagination and creativity-explore people, places, times and events beyond their own experiences
  • Cultivating a lifelong love of reading

Reading is the single-most important activity for building understanding and essential reading skills which will help your child to reach their fullest potential and be successful in school.

If you have any suggestions, concerns or celebrations, don’t hesitate to contact us.  We value and appreciate your partnership with our school.
